cymbal is committed to making its website accessible to everyone, in accordance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, the European standard EN 301 549, and the German Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz (BFSG), which implements the European Accessibility Act in Germany as of 28 June 2025.

This statement applies to playcymbal.app.

Conformance status

This website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Partial conformance means that some content does not yet fully meet the standard. The known issues are listed below.

Known accessibility issues

The following content does not currently meet all requirements:

1. Brand accent colour — text contrast

The brand orange (#E8622A) is used for decorative text labels (section eyebrows, step numbers, and the hero heading accent). Against the warm parchment backgrounds the contrast ratio is approximately 2.7:1, below the 4.5:1 minimum for small text and 3:1 for large text. Affected criterion: WCAG 1.4.3 (Contrast — Minimum). This is a deliberate brand decision; the orange is not used for functional or navigational text, only decorative labels.

2. Primary CTA button — white text on accent background

The primary-action button style uses white text on an orange background (approximately 3.2:1 contrast), which does not meet the 4.5:1 requirement for normal-weight text. Affected criterion: WCAG 1.4.3. This button is not currently displayed on any public page (the app is in pre-release) and will be corrected before launch.

3. Stage (dark) theme — secondary text contrast

When the optional dark "Stage" theme is active, the secondary text tier may fall below the 4.5:1 contrast ratio for small text. Affected criterion: WCAG 1.4.3. This is planned to be resolved in an upcoming palette revision.

For digital products and services covered by the BFSG, the responsible authority is the Marktüberwachungsbehörde of the federal state (Bundesland) in which the service provider is domiciled, or the federal authority designated under § 25 BFSG.
